Write a speech that presents an argument: Choose a global cause/issue, and write a speech with the goal of rallying your audience to support your cause. You will need not only to present a solid argument but also need to persuade your audience:: remember, an audience that is moved is an audience that is easier to sway. Remember also that energy and enthusiasm are infectious – in the best sense, of course – so choose something about which you can speak with authority, passion, and conviction.
You will deliver your speech to the class so keep that in mind as you write it.
Your argument must reflect a global, national, and local perspective. Be sure to include an MLA works cited and in-text citations. (You must have 3 sources for this assignment.)
Scoring
Because of the time constraints, students may accept a score of 5 or above. The grading/scoring will be as follows (please note the changes from the last stamped paper):
5 = 42 points (70 percent)
6 = 48 points (80 percent)
7 = 51 points (85 percent)
8 = 55.2 points (92 percent)
9 = 60 points (100 percent)
No score below a 5 will be accepted.
