Here are the Common App Essay Prompts for 2020-2021.
***Covid-19 Question
As someone on the common app advisory board involved in the discussions that led to the questions, I can tell you that what we were trying to do was to offer a space for students who had an acute hardship, which would not be reflected in the school or counselor report. Job loss, lack of internet access, lack of a decent space to do homework, a sick parent, the need to care for siblings while parents work....Sort of a special information section focused on covid. I recognize that "intent of the framers" doesn't really mean anything, and the real question is how this will land with admissions folks. But I would still say -- a student who is aware enough of their privilege to say I am going to sit this one out because it's not about me might be looked on more favorable than one who magnifies a minor discomfort into a substantial hardship claim. --Member of the Common App Advisory Board
