Scoring
Because of the time constraints, students may accept a score of 5 or above. The grading/scoring will be as follows (please note the changes from the last stamped paper):
5 = 42 points (70 percent)
6 = 48 points (80 percent)
7 = 51 points (85 percent)
8 = 55.2 points (92 percent)
9 = 60 points (100 percent)
No score below a 5 will be accepted.
NOTE: Think of the synthesis essay as a conversation among the sources, not simply a listing of what the sources say. Imagine all the sources sitting around the table having a fishbowl-type discussion. It moves from topic to topic rather than source to source.
